Silvia the wild one with her baby Ava. Ava is now three days old but already poses for the camera. Both are doing well. Silvia usually ranges around the area covering a wide territory. Since giving birth to Ava she has kept close to our compound. For those who do not know, Silvia is not officially a resident at Canaote. She arrived one day about three years ago with a wild troop, and never left. We treat her like one of our own. We put out food for her every day, the same as for our children. She knows meal times and is always on hand when it is served. We love her very much. We are so happy that she has a baby and is now fulfilled as a mother. If only all monkeys had this gift of life without imprisonment and abuse.

Si tan sólo todos los monos tuvieran el don de la vida sin encarcelamiento y maltrato.


Silvia la mona silvestre con su bebé Ava. Ava tiene tres días de nacida, pero ya posa para la cámara. Ambas están bien. Silvia se extiende generalmente alrededor del área que abarca un amplio territorio. Desde que dio a luz a Ava se ha mantenido cerca de nuestro complejo. Para los que no saben, Silvia no es oficialmente un residente en Cañaote. Llegó un día cualquiera, hace unos tres años, con una tropa de monos salvajes, y nunca se fue. La tratamos como a uno de los nuestros. Ponemos la comida para ella todos los días, al igual que para nuestros hijos. Ella sabe de la hora de las comidas y siempre está a la mano cuando se sirve. Nos gusta mucho. Estamos muy contentos de que ella haya tenido un bebé y tenga la experiencia como madre. Si tan sólo todos los monos tuvieran el don de la vida sin encarcelamiento y maltrato.
