Flurries of kisses

 

It has been a fascinating month I have shared with Samantha. 
(right in picture with Daniel).She was brought here as an orphan, so there is no mother figure that I can count on to foster her. All our females are paired with males. This has meant that I am muma and papa. This is a 24/7 job. I am not denying that it has its difficult moments, since I have 25 other monkeys to care for. I can't take her with me when I enter other enclosures, but by and large she is sweet tempered and has no problem in being left for short periods in a small comfortable enclosure, apart from screaming blue murder until I return. But this has been a period of marked change. She has grown in a very short time from a fairly immobile baby to a very active monkey. She is constantly on the move apart from siesta (about 12 noon). She lives and sleeps with me in my quarters and I have compromised. Instead of allowing her to throw everything in my room piece by piece to the floor, I have moved all my possessions to the floor.
Most young monkeys bite if they do not get their own way or sometimes in play. I have yet to see her bite. She is a very loving person. I get sudden and surprising flurries of kisses when I least expect it.

Ráfagas de besos

Este ha sido un mes fascinante que he compartido con Samantha.
(A la derecha en la foto con Daniel). Ella es una huérfana que fue traída aquí, por lo que no ha tenido una figura materna. Todas las hembras se aparean con los machos. Esto ha significado que yo soy mamá y papá. Este es un trabajo 24/7. No niego que tiene sus momentos difíciles, ya que tengo 25 monos que cuidar. No puedo llevarla conmigo cuando entro en otros recintos, pero por lo general ella es dulce y no tiene ningún problema en quedarse por períodos cortos en un recinto pequeño y cómodo, además de gritar hasta que yo vuelva. Pero esto ha sido un período de cambio significativo. Ella ha crecido en un tiempo muy corto a partir de un bebé bastante inmóvil a un mono muy activo. Ella está constantemente en movimiento, aparte de la siesta (aproximadamente 12 horas). Ella vive y duerme conmigo en mi cuarto. A ella se le permite tirar todo en mi habitación pieza a pieza en el suelo, yo he trasladado todas mis pertenencias al suelo.
La mayoría de los monos jóvenes muerden si no se salen con la suya propia o, a veces en el juego. Todavía tengo que estar pendiente de sus mordeduras. Ella es una niña muy cariñosa. Ella me da ráfagas repentinas y sorprendentes de besos cuando menos me lo espero.
