Lucio as leader.

Lucio took over the leadership of the group when Schatov left to live with Sophie. He takes his new duty as paderoti very seriously. He has become much more solitary and there have been some physical changes as well. His hyoid bone has grown in size and his beard has become quite grand and luxurious. Both of these attributes are important to the leader. The beard is used as a brush to apply an enzyme to trees in his territory. It is important that others know this area is his domain. This enzyme has a very strong smell and is immediately noticeable in the leader’s vicinity. A shower is also advised after and physical contact with him. This is not a pleasant smell to humans. The increase in size of the hyoid bone is to give him greater volume in his calls which again warn off would be intruders. Wars between Howler monkeys are rare. The marking and calling give other troupes clear warning that they may be trespassing. Lucio tomó la dirección del grupo cuando Schatov salió para vivir con Sophie. Él toma su nuevo deber muy en serio como padrote. Él se ha vuelto mucho más solitario y ha habido algunos cambios físicos también. Su hueso hioides ha crecido de tamaño y su barba se ha puesto bastante grande y espesa. Estos atributos son importantes para un líder. La barba se usa como un cepillo para aplicar una enzima a los árboles y así marcar su territorio. La señal y los aullidos dan advertencia clara que ellos pueden estar entrando ilegalmente a otras manadas. Hay batallas, sí, pero sólo las batallas de voces.
