Breakout at Canaote

 'You had better come now! Maria Teresa has broken into the next enclosure.' The excited helper shouted at me as he rushed outside.
Maria Teresa came to us as a baby, just like Samantha. She was tiny and lived with me 24/7 for 6 months. At the end of that time (too long) she was introduced to Manińa who took her under his wing. This didn't stop her from spending a good part of her day, calling for me. She didn't want to accept that she was a monkey and needed to live with her own people. But on July the 8th 2009 she joined this group. At that time she was nearly nine months old.

Today she is a full grown young adult She has gone 'walkabout' once before. She has shown an
 interest in Chilin in the next enclosure. This is surprising since she had the choice of Saco and Barnaby.

This morning she broke into MonaLisa's domain. Reports are that she made love with Chilin. MonaLisa does not seem disturbed and in fact sat with her like two ladies exchanging gossip.
Chilin is an interesting monkey. He is not alpha. He is a charming gentle soul. Always demanding a massage when ever I am near his house. Rather than the typical burly appearance of the alpha monkeys, he is long and tall with a magnificent coat. He played with Maria Teresa, pulling her tail and sitting as close to her as he could. There was some activity in their house. Chilin and Maria Teresa disappeared inside for a while. Then later Maria Teresa and MonaLisa took a turn inside. I understood that they were showing her around.

During all this time I receive a lot of attention. I sat with them, carefully measuring MonaLisa's reaction to the newcomer. I am certain that is is favorable. A decision had to be made, whether Maria Teresa should be returned to her own house or should remain here.
If Maria Teresa give birth, having been returned to her own cage, the baby would almost certainly be killed by one of the alpha monkeys. I don't know if she is pregnant but I cannot risk the possibility that she is. If Chilin is the father, the baby will be accepted. By him and MonaLisa.

Our picture show me receiving a lot of attention. All three monkeys. MonaLisa on my lap. Chilin in my arms and Maria Teresa on my shoulder. It looks like a new family has been formed. Grandma MonaLisa (she is now 10 years old.) and the two lovers.

Escape en Cañaote

 -Será mejor que venga ahora! “María Teresa ha roto la jaula y se paso a la siguiente". El ayudante me gritó emocionado mientras corría fuera.
María Teresa vino a nosotros como un bebé, al igual que Samantha. Ella era pequeña y vivía conmigo 24/7 durante 6 meses. Al final de ese tiempo (mucho tiempo) fue presentada a Manina que la tomó bajo su protección. Esto no le impidió pasar una buena parte de su tiempo, llorando llamándome. Ella no quería aceptar que era un mono y era necesario ensenarla a  vivir con su propia gente. Pero el 8 de julio de 2009 se unió a este grupo. En ese momento ella tenía casi nueve meses de edad.

Hoy es completamente adulta. Se ha había escapado antes una vez. Ella ha demostrado interés en Chilin en el recinto el próximo. Esto es sorprendente, ya que ella tenía la opción de Saco o de Barnaby.

Esta mañana se rompió y entro en el dominio de Monalisa. Los informes son que ella hizo el amor con Chilin. MonaLisa no parece perturbada y, de hecho, se sentó con ella como dos mujeres intercambiando chismes.
Chilin es un mono muy interesante. Él no es alfa. Él es un alma gentilmente encantadora. Siempre exigiendo un masaje cuando estoy cerca de su casa. Más que el aspecto típico corpulento de los monos alfa, que son largos y fuertes, con un magnífico pelaje. El se puso a jugar con María Teresa, tirándole de la cola y estando tan cerca de ella como pudo. Había algo de actividad en su casa. Chilin y María Teresa desaparecieron en el interior durante un tiempo. Luego, más tarde María Teresa y MonaLisa dieron un giro en su interior. Comprendí que la estaban mostrando sus alrededores.

Durante todo este tiempo he recibido mucha atención. Me senté con ellos, midiendo cuidadosamente la reacción de Monalisa con el recién llegado. Estoy seguro de que se es favorable. La decisión tenía que hacerse, si María Teresa debe ser devuelta a su casa o debe quedarse aquí.
Si María Teresa da a luz, después de haber sido devuelta a su propia jaula, el bebé casi con toda seguridad será asesinado por uno de los monos alfa. No sé si está embarazada, pero no puedo arriesgar la posibilidad de que ella lo esté. Si Chilin es el padre, el bebé será aceptado por él y Monalisa.
