I am not a saint. I am an ordinary person. Early in my days here I saw monkeys being sold by the roadside. Early I realized that the young monkeys were caught by killing the mother and then catching the falling child, which was then bagged and sold. Everything pointed me in the direction of this work. I am certain that it has been divine guidance. Among other things I met friends of a like mind. It just could not have just happened.
People who had a problem monkey soon found me. People miles away got to hear about my work. People who loved their monkey but because of some circumstance they were unable to continue to care for their monkey.
People who were blackmailed into disposing of their monkey child. In the words of one person,'he told me it was either him or the monkey'.
Then there were those who did not have the courage to tell me that they had bought their monkey by the roadside and instead gave me a story that they had found the monkey walking in the street. Caracas must certainly be some big jungle. They needed to rid themselves of a responsibility because the monkey had bitten someone, or frightened the neighbors, or attracted the attention of the authorities.
What is clear to me is that a monkey bought is a responsibility for the whole of the monkeys life. You can no more abandon a monkey than you can abandon a human child. Both are morally wrong.
It was wrong in the first place to take the monkey from the forest. It is compounding the wrong to then abandon the little ones. God gave the earth to the animals as well as to humans and they have as much right to life and happiness as humankind.
I have regarded myself as a provision. If a monkey is handed to me, that is a morally justified act. The former owner has passed the daily care to me in a responsible way. The daily care yes, but not the financial burden. I will give the monkey everything it needs. A clean home and good food but above all, love. But the original owner still has the responsibility of contributing to the child’s upkeep.
This is why I ask for a regular monthly donation.
Do you realize that out of the 24 monkeys in my care, that only two people have kept their promise to send a monthly donation. These other children have been abandoned to my care.
There was a time when this would not have been a problem for me. But inflation has made the monthly food and staff and maintenance bills horrific. My miserable pension is severely stretched. We really do need help.
The person abandoning the animal without provision,will have to make his/her own peace with God .

Yo no soy un santo.
Yo no soy un santo. Soy una persona común y corriente. Cuando comencé mi vida en este país veía monos que se vendían a orillas de carreteras. Me di cuenta de que los monos jóvenes eran capturados después de matar a la madre y luego eran vendidos dentro de un saco. Todo me apuntaba en la dirección de este trabajo. Estoy seguro de que ha sido la guía divina. Entre otras cosas me encontré con amigos con las mismas inquietudes mías. Simplemente no podría haber sucedido de otra manera.
La gente que tenía un problema con su mono pronto me contactaban. A millas de distancia las personas se enteraban acerca de mi trabajo. Las personas que amaban a su mono, pero por alguna circunstancia no podían seguir cuidando de él.
Las personas que fueron chantajeados para deshacerse de su mono. En las palabras de una persona ", me dijo que era él o el mono".
Luego están los que no tienen el coraje de decirme que habían comprado sus monos al borde del camino y en su lugar me dicen una historia que habían encontrado el mono caminando por la calle. En Caracas sin duda debe haber una selva grande. Tenían que deshacerse de la responsabilidad porque el mono había mordido a alguien, o miedo a los vecinos, o la atención de las autoridades.
Lo que está claro para mí es que comprar un mono es una responsabilidad para toda la vida. No se puede abandonar un mono como tampoco se puede abandonar a un niño humano. Ambos son moralmente incorrectos.
Fue un error en el primer lugar de tomar el mono de la selva. Se agrava el mal con abandonar luego a los más pequeños. Dios dio la tierra a los animales, así como a los seres humanos y tienen tanto derecho a la vida y la felicidad como la humanidad.
Yo he recibido al mono con una buena disposición. Si un mono se entrega a mí, que es un acto moralmente justificado. El antiguo propietario ha traspasado el cuidado diario a mí de una manera responsable. El cuidado diario sí, pero no la carga financiera. Voy a darle todo lo que el mono necesita. Una casa limpia y buena comida, pero sobre todo, amor. Sin embargo, el propietario original sigue teniendo la responsabilidad de contribuir al mantenimiento del niño.
Esta es la razón por la que se pide una donación mensual regular.
¿Se dan cuenta que de los 24 monos a mi cuidado, sólo dos personas han mantenido su promesa de enviar una donación mensual. Estos otros niños han sido abandonados a mi cuidado.
Hubo un momento en que esto no habría sido un problema para mí. Pero la inflación ha hecho que la comida mensual y el personal y las horribles facturas de mantenimiento no puedan ser canceladas. Mi pensión miserable es severamente estirada. Realmente necesito ayuda.
La persona que abandona un animal sin ocuparse más de él, tendrá que rendir cuentas a Dios.
